xfinity hotspot deadzone and can't select other channels available

    Greetings

I am currently picking up 2-3 different xfinity hot spots via my asus pce-ac68. 2 Channel 6 always connects automatically and will not allow me to switch to a lower strength channel 2 xfinity hotspot which is available at 1 less wifi band strength even though the lower channel is lightning fast when it works for those few times the channel 6 hotspot is down or signal is mia.

Is there a way for me to improve my signal strength via channel 6's hotspot?
Is there any way to block channel 6's connection or manually connect to channel 2's hotspot? Why is it that my comcast/asus software prevents me from connecting to lesser strength hotspots and feels the need to bump me from a working connection and leave me in this hotspot deadzone..?

Please & Thanks for any helpful comments

3 xfinity hotspots available but auto selects 1 that doesn't work

    Greetings

Quick question about comcast xfinity hotspots and asus pce-ac68 software..
ihave a pce-ac68 and am currently in range for 2-3 different xfinitywifi hotspots..my adapter really likes to connect to the xfinity hotspot on channel 6..it registers 4 wifi signal bars which is 1 to 2 bars better than the other hotspots but channel 6 will only work at extremely low strength and cuts out even though pinging works and the bars are relentless...While the lesser channel 2 xfinity hotspot comes in at 2 to 3 bars and has lightning fast uninterrupted speeds but Iis eclipses by channel 6, 99% of the time..

help...Please and Thanks for helpful comments

    Threads merged.

It might be worth contacting Comcast's customer services.

I assume that the hotspots is a Wi-Fi device. Usually they can be configured to operate on a particular channel, configured through a web interface, but if this is supplied by Comcast, it may have specific firmware, or be locked down.

These are hotspots and therefore have to be configured on the device supplying the wireless signal. It may be that one device that you connect to is not actually connected to the internet, but putting out a stronger wireless signal, therefore you connect to it before the others, but dont get online. Other than that it may have a max number of devices it lets online at any one point, again you cannot affect this.

should be able to choose which hotspot you connect to though, might be a limitation of software, in which case Peterb has already given you the right advice, contact the supplier.

    Thanks you both.
I will contact comcast but was still hoping to iron out this software restraint on the asus pce-ac68 software for the future
