    Wifi

Right, at home I have Wifi - I want to have it on the move, I want to have a SMALL wifi adapter which can go in to a network port - pick up an IP if needed and auto config itself. Then broadcast wifi round my hotel room or wherver I am.

Sounds simple - but I need something which just works - no messing around.

Any router with a dedicated wan port could do it. I plugged my D-Link 624+ out of the box, staight into the cable modem. 30s later, DHCP recieved, all systems had a internet gateway.

Find any small router that does DHCP when its booted up? Thats essentially all you need, as you can pre-configure things like WPA-PSK whilst you at home, and save those settings into its EEPROM.

I havent a clue what would be small off the top of my head...

There's a number of travel or pocket access points announced, such as http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=346 or http://www.3com.com/products/en_US/d...ku=3CRTRV10075 although I haven't seen many UK stockists for them.

    how big's ya bag?

my USR Sureconnect 8000A works like that but is no doubt a little on the large side for what you need.
