    Re: Home server

The database could be an issue. Not my field of expertise, and I know very little about FoxPro. The common SQL database application Unix/Linus operating systems is MySQL, which supports a number of database engines. Whether FoxPro would be able to interrogate them or interact with MySql would need some research, and possibly some work.

If FoxPro is happy creating and accessing files remotely, then the data based files could be accessed on an SMB server regardless of the underlying OS. SMB is Microsofts Server Message Block protocol. The Open Source version is Samba, it works well. I use it to serve files on my server and both Microsoft and Apple Operating systems access it. (Apple's OS X is Unix based anyway)

Okay, I will ask on my FoxPro list.

    Thanks,
