I'm considering the 100Mb package, but am concerned about throttling/blocked sites.
Make sure your getting cable and not national variant of Virgin Media, and then you will get 100% of your advertised speeds, i've been with them since they were telewest at 1mbps and i've been upgraded all the way up to 152Mbps(which is going up again soon for free). i get my full speeds. as for blocked sites, they block as much as all other providers are mandated to do by law, but these are very easy to circumvent...

    Re: Virgin Broadband

I got VM in my new house as I'm moving out of my parents. I haven't had any issues although I've been to busy to even notice as I've been doing the house up, plus still not living there fully. Compared to my parents who live in the sticks and often have regular drop-outs due to the weather, VM is a god send. So going from nearly 2mb on a good day or 0.1 on a bad day and lots in between to 50mb even if it was throttled which I don't think it was, has been great for me. I even downloaded a couple of steam games within hours compared to days. So big thumbs up from me.

    Re: Virgin Broadband

Don't care how fast they will ever provide, I will never use them again. Was with them for years and began throttling me on my 60gb connection due to 'excessive usage' between 8am and 3pm mid week. Turns out this excessive usage was normal consumption of Netflix by my wife and babies while I was at work. I called to discuss and they we rude and not helpful.

Told them to cancel account and moved on.

Will never go back. Heard that there prices are high now.

    Re: Virgin Broadband

I was with them for 4 years when I lived with my parents and they were great, never had issues and only time I called them I told them the issue and they sent out a new modem.

Unfortunately my new house is not in a VM area meaning I am stuck with Sky for the time being... oh the joys! but as soon as VM is available I will be back with them.

    Re: Virgin Broadband

It depends on your usage. There is no traffic management for downloads any more but for uploading it can be pretty bad depending on how much you need the full upload during peak hours.

    http://my.virginmedia.com/traffic-ma...hresholds.html

I have no issues with them in my area and also I am not traffic managed. I'm on the 200Mb so downloading stuff is a breeze but the upload of 12Mb is pitiful in this day and age but hopefully they do something about that next year with some infrastructure improvements.

I've never liked them, I had a bad time with them a number of years ago and never went back.

    Re: Virgin Broadband

Virgin were one of the worst companies I have ever had the misfortune to deal with from a customer service standpoint. Rude, obnoxious staff who could not care less about the job they do or the customer on the other end of the phone. Worse than that was being actively lied to by them when trying to resolve a query. Terrible.

On the upside the broadband service was really good so as long as you don't need to deal with their customer service side often you'll be fine
