Internet badwidth use Jan '14 to feb '16

    Hi guys

I've always been a quite low user of bandwidth.
I don't stream music and don't file share, so it's just web and work.

But with the purchase of a You VFiew set top box last year and then a TV too, and with numerous devices now connected in my house..

look at this - it's intriguing.

I feel like an absolute lunatic now....

The middle one does have a period when I had some friends and family over but otherwise it's all my damage. Thankfully I'm on an unlimited plan. I blame a lot of it on Steam. It is far too easy to just delete a game when I tire of it, then think, 'nah, I'll have it again'.

I was away for 2 weeks in the Jan-Feb month:

And a usage breakdown so far this month. I'm fairly sure Steam downloads come under Web:

It's interesting to see all the numbers laid out - unfortunately my provider doesn't provide any info.

I was thinking of moving over to Arnold & Arnold 1TB package, but have virtually no idea whether I would breach the limit or not!

Re: Internet badwidth use Jan '14 to feb '16

I've no idea what my bandwidth usage is, but my guess is VERY low. I don't stream music, or films, rarely download anything bigger than a PDF, except an occasional software update/patch, or a new Linux distro to try. My video viewing isn't more than maybe hslf a dozen YT clips a month, and that's a heavy month. I don't bank online, rarely shop online and haven't even ebay'd in years. I use a couple of forums, a handful of generic websites and quite a lot of news sites. I don't even email more than very occasionally.

Frankly, these days, but for HEXUS I'd probably just cancel my broadband account altogether.

And the only reason for remaining on Hexus is Saracen's upcoming mega post "Treatise on the keeping of Columba livia domestica"

Some peaks there when I was downloading or updating an OS. But most of my TV is via FreeSat, I don't subscribe to Netflix, Spotify or anything else, and I occasionally catch up with iPlayer, so it's not surprising my use age is relatively low.
