So my grandparents were with Sky basic broadband for a few years and had numerous problems with it disconnecting etc. Sky were never successful in fixing it, and thus we opted to try their fibre. After a month of waiting, it was finally installed. So, as a recap, Ping/DL/UL before were 50ms/6Mb/0.4Mb and after fibre they changed to 8ms/37.5Mb/16Mb. So, what's the problem, you may be thinking? I've been away for a couple of days, and I came back to complaints about the internet being slow. I did a speed test, and the results are as follows: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5223985774
Now, it's not terrible, but the connection now often hangs, and gaming is just as terrible as before. This is wired directly to the router on my desktop. I've tried on the master switch. Rang Sky and went through about 2 hours of troubleshooting (I have a basic knowledge of routers so it was quicker than usual). I even plugged it into their test socket and the same result. Router syncs at 35000kbps and at times the download will reach that, but the ping is still high. Nothing has changed since, and it can't be wireless issues. They have no idea what's wrong as the line test is showing mostly clear, but not perfect. As such, they're sending an engineer out, as soon as they can find a timeslot. Now, as I waited a month to get fibre installed, I imagine it'll take roughly the same time to get an engineer out to see us.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Resetting the router hasn't done anything.
