Help an old man with changing his broadband.

I really suck at figuring all this out and my google skills seem sadly lacking.

I have a adsl connection and line rental with plusnet. Expires 30AUG16. We are on holiday from the 25th of July and Was hoping to start it then. £20 early cancellation or about £10 if I start from the 29th.

I want to move to SSE fibre optic, they are offering 18mnth contract for £21; not the cheapest but it does offer free calls even to the intl numbers we need. They say they need 23 days from cancellation of my contract with plusnet.

So I cancel with plusnet; do they need to close my phone/broadband I move over to SSE and then I'm stuck with 23 days no connection? How do I not get any downtime? I thought we may have moved on. My wife works from home so really really need broadband.

Apologies if you got this and thanks in advance if you can help me out.

Just make sure to get the correct £21 bundle with SSE as they have 2 for that price.

They are the same except one is 38 Mbps and the other is 76Mbps.

Also £70 cashback available on the faster one (ultra) via quidco.

Link isn't working for me but if you just google "sse quidco" it is the first result.

You might find you get higher speeds with them. My dad is on BT on the other side of a small rural town and either he is throttled more, his router (BT HH) is garbage or more heavily contended. Less than 20 mins walk away to a more densly populated area and my internet is 10-20% faster.
