Just simply phone them up and ask for your MAC key and hang up if they are been gay. Some people will probably try and bull-crap you. If you phone them up again you may get someone better anyway.

They legally HAVE to give you a MAC code. They can ask you why, but if you demand it, they have to give you it.
Tell them you want to migrate; don't mention MAC, just call it a Migration Access Code. I applied for mine from wanadoo last week, they gave it me by email after about 24 hours.

Don't cancel adn re-join, you might have to pay an admin fee again. Most ISPs do a free setup charge if you're actually migrating through official channels.

The Migration Access Code is a number that your current ISP gives to you, which you give to your new ISP, so they can tell BT that they're looking after your account now.
I'm assuming it's a security thing, so that some dodgy cowboy ISP can't just transfer your account over. I *think* it's ADSL only, but i'm not sure if cable systems have a similar project.

yup they have to legally give it to you.
I've been having problems with Central Point not dishing mine out to me, but theyre in the process of having their system taken over and migrated to a new structure, so they've got a week to sort themselves out

looks like it.
Weird that it's optional, I could have sworn that it was mandatory. Must have misunderstood.
