wireless network help with new laptop

Hi My little cousin has a dlink dsl-904 and a acer aspire 3003wlmi lappy with bt openworrld 2mb Broadband.

I have connected the lappy to the router wirelesly and can get online to google.

    now the problem is

when I search say for bbc in google it brings up the results but when I click the link to go to the www.bbc.co.uk website it will not load. When i put in a web address other than google in the address bar the websites will not load and a 404 errror screen shows. It shows the adsl as connected.

and also how do I connect her tower to the network

First check that software firewall is not interfering or better still turn it off!

Check the security settings in the router admin page,

    and finally

    click start>run>type cmd
at the command line type in: netsh winsock reset
    press enter
    restart the computer
and see if it works....has worked for me on weirdities like this
