wireless networking two PCS
I am looking to networking two pcs so i can browse the internet on both of them.
I have 2mb broadband. I am new to wireless networking but know a lot about computers. I have some questions. 1. Can i just use two usb 108mb dongles ???? 2. or do i need a router and use one usb dongle ??? 3.wot is the best wireless st up for 2 PCs??? Im trying to aviod getting a router since im only networking two pcs Thanks in advance |

1) yes, using adhoc mode you could link the two computers directly and share the internet between them, however the computer that links directly to the modem would need to be on all the time
2) if you use a router then you would still need two usb dongles unless the router has wired connections (most do) and then you could wire one of the pcs to the router 3) I would personally go for the router option - it gives more flexability and you can expand more easily, i personally have never used adhoc connections, so i can't really comment on them. How is your internet currently set up? Do you just have a modem that connects to one of your pcs? or do you have a wired router? If you have a wired router, you could perhaps get an access point which is slightly cheaper than a wireless adsl router |

I have a wired router.
in my other pc i dont have a network card so i thought it would be easier to use dongles But i could get a bt router for my bt broadband and also wot make of networking stuff should i use?? |

Ypu could get a wireless access point and connect that to the router, then use USB wireless adaptors or PCI wireless cards in the PC(s) make is pretty immaterial, some advise that you should use the same make for all components for max reliability, but all should be compatable as they all conform to IEEE stndards.
