Fed up with my wireless network - XBox Live not!

Having 'upgraded' my trusty old Draytek Vigor 2600We ADSL router several months ago to a Belkin 125G ADSL router, I can no longer use my XBox on the Internet properly. I am using a Netgear ME101 (802.11b) wireless bridge. XBox Live is unusable. It usually takes around 1 hour to get onto XBox Live after successive reboots of every networking component I have. Then I cannot play on XBox Live as the lag and/or connection is too slow.

This all used to work with my previous Draytek 802.11b ADSL router perfectly. I no longer have that though!

Worse than that, the Belkin router requires rebooting every few hours as it cannot maintain my ADSL connection.

So, I want to rip out my ADSL modem/router and my wireless bridge for the XBox.

I need an XBox Live compatible 802.11g wireless bridge for the XBox (as the current one is only 802.11b) and a new 802.11g ADSL router that is rock solid in performance.

    Recommendations?

Why did you downgrade? Go back to a Draytek!

Is YOUR system up to Folding?

I know, I know. All is forgiven, Draytek! The Draytek I had was 802.11b (11Mb/S). The Belkin I have now is supposed to be up to 125Mb/S. In the real world, Draytek 802.llb > Belkin 125Mb/S!

I am looking at the latest Draytek's right now. They are very pricey but worth it.

Is your adsl signal ok? The draytek may have had a higher tolerance. I had similar problems when there was loads of interference on my line, one router was a lot more robust than another. Might be worth getting your line checked.

My line is probably not great. The Draytek never required a single reboot. It cost 3 times the price of the Belkin when I bought it.

I'm looking for the new Draytek Vigor 2800G but this is still new and nobody has stock for a couple of weeks.

Well, I sorted out my XBox Live problem. I ditched the old Netgear ME101 bridge and bought a Netgear WGE111 (802.11g) bridge which is XBox compatible. I cannot believe how difficult Netgear products are to use!

I spent almost two hours trying to detect the bridge from a laptop and from my desktop before I could configure it.

Anyway, XBox live is working properly again. There must have been some incompatibility between the old ME101 bridge and my Belkin High Speed Mode router.

Next, i'm going to ditch the Belkin and get a Draytek Vigor 2800G when I can find one in stock.

Hi i think the problem u are having is with the type of router you are using i use the Broadband Connecting Belkind Wirless Router G 125MB/s and it gives no problams at all and i can still use my PS2.

The verion you got is supposed to replace the modem (hence asdl router has inbuilt modem) but i find if u keep ur existing modem and buy just a connection router it works much better.

Just got mine today!!! I also ordered two 5dB aerials for it and a D-Link SuperG PCI card. It totalled around £200 for the lot. It's a lot of money for an ADSL wireless router but my previous experience with Draytek was very good.
