That doesn't look to take up more than 2 slots to me... I have the AC S1 rev2 with the turbo module and it only takes up 2 slots as well

The graphics card and cooler take up more than 1 slot each. How do they attach a fan without it taking up a further slot, especially with the cover sticking out as it does on the AC TT?

I guess that means its so loud they have used an obscure unit of measurement to confuse people

Everyone has used "dB" to denote fan speed noise since PC fans were rated by noise level......

Anyone have any idea at all the approx noise level in dB from this thing?

Sone is a measure of perceived loudness, I've come across it before in measurements of acceptable sound levels for the work place. According to wikipedia the unit has been around since the 1930's, not too obscure.

Anyway according to the wikipedia table here, 6 sone would be equivalent to an SPL measurement in the region of 60 to 80 dB. Which is rubbish for a cooler. I think that must be a mistake since lots of reviews have said the Accelero with a fan is fairly quiet. I'm quite interested to see this product reviewed.

lol you are using a normal fan which is 25mm wide... I am using the turbo module which is specifically designed for the AC S1 and only 10mm wide which does not take up a 3rd slot.

The fan you see on the AC TT is only around 10mm extra over and above the heatsink not to mention the heatsink takes up less space on the AC TT than what the AC S1 does... Its only 34mm from GFX PCB to the outside edge of the fans so definitely does not take up more than 2 slots.

I think its meant to be 0.6 stone... that's what their website states its noise is measured as >http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=166.

Exhail has already posted this, but to re-itterate and for anyone who can't/won't read posts of more than 3 lines.

The Force3D card in this article refers to an unreleased Arctic Cooling product, the Twin Turbo, this is NOT the Arctic Cooling S1

the Twin Turbo is smaller (no more than the width of a card) and much "flatter", that's to say it'll take 2 slots only including that pre-fitted fan module.

If they descride it as 'allowing the user to overclock to new heights' or whatever, does that mean they'll be shipping at stock speeds?

Bit of a cop-out for a card with such a good cooler, unless they're going to come with a warranty that covers overclocking???

its an ideal card if you have poor case cooling, low noise too.

Looking at the space on my X38 mobo I find it hard to believe it's crossfire compatible.

This is why we need more pictures with rulers in them!

How come? It doesn't look like it's piping any air out the case at all, so it'll just recirculate hot air if you have poor case cooling.

It does look like a good cooler, but I still prefer the idea of the 4870's stock, where the hot air is chucked straight out the case. Some of the best aftermarket coolers I've seen are on the HIS IceQ range of ATi cards, so hopefully they will do the same this time.

Nice looking cooler, although I do prefer the reference design where the hot air pushed straight out the back of the card. Would be interesting to see the cooling benchmarks on standard and overclocked cards.

Sadly any more than two slots and I cant use it with my current mobo. I have a low profile pci-e tuner card which is already squeezed up close to the gfx card cooler
