Finally a decent one.... hopefully it will be competitively priced to give the 9800gtx/+ some real competition...

    Looks interesting
I already got a sapphire, but, tbh if its any more than £140 its not worth it :/

Wait for the turbo version if you want a speed boost, but this looks nice. Now all we need are several UK retailers to stock them...

£140 is more than the superior 9800gtx+! £120 max would be competitive... ideally less though because the 9800gtx which comes with a decent cooler can be had for less than that!

I reckon the turbo version (or this version if its the "top" one) will cost £150 though, these after market coolers always cost a big premium...

IceQ always carry a premium for their DHES style cooling, however they have very little room to manoeuvre since the HD4870 will be around £160 soon.

512MB of GDDR4? That's an upgrade in itself isn;t it, thought the standard spec was GDDR3 on the 4850 and GDDR5 on the 4870 or have I missed a move?

Ah, fair enough, thought ATi had started making things as unclear in their product line up as nVidia!

Online specs sheet on HiS website confirms DDR3

I'm waiting for a good propriety cooler system before upgrading to a HD4850, or at least until they fix the bios on the stock models to make it run cooler!

I've been using a HIS ICEQ3 X1900XT for a couple of years and it's been great, however for the 4800s I'm liking the look/idea of the Force3D

H iMadduckUK , I do truly believe that our product the Vortex NEO is currently the best of breed set new level of the bar of performance.

On the 48xx series I would endrose the use of our little coolers (http://www.akasa.co.uk/akasa_english..._ak_vmc_01.htm)
for the VRM & magnetics & use the thermal tape adhesive .

Also just to further add - we had been submitting our design to HIS late last year and this year and
this is why they are similar - but I will let you make your own conclusions
