    The E3 2006 mania continues..

Well, both David and I are back from LA and E3 2006 and we’re both shattered.

What we managed to fit into the three days of the show is pretty amazing and goes some way to explaining just why we’re both knackered, regardless of jet lag and time zones.

At E3, everyone is yelling like mad about their latest games and what they’ve got on the horizon, so getting round it all and seeing everything everyone has to offer is near on impossible.

We tried our damndest to stick to our incredibly tight schedule and, for the most part, we managed it but there was so much to see and so many folks wanting to see us that we found ourselves with bugger all free time, even after the show had finished each day!

Now I know you all think that going off to a party and having a few drinks and a bite to eat is a great bit of ligging, but it doesn’t work like that. Sure, you can get hammered and a make a tit of yourself, but that’s hardly going to go down well with whoever is hosting the party now is it? Also, these parties are excellent opportunities to get talking with developers and publishers about broader issues rather than the games they want to highlight at the show.

Whilst this may not necessarily give you something to write about on the site, it does key you in early on to what a company is planning for later in the year, or even where they want to head for the nest two years… Of course, as is the way, a lot of this stuff is off the record, so we won’t tell you anything until its official.

So, what did we achieve at E3 2006?

Well, our jam packed schedule of 37 meetings in 3 days sat us down with all the major publishers and with developers who we feel are going to be doing big things in the future. We played just over 200 different games between the two of us, and spent some quality time with some key hardware and key games.

We were invited to, and attended, 7 after show parties, which saw us screaming around LA nipping from one to the other.

And, sadly for me, I found that between walking the floor, meeting with folks and doing the parties, that unless you don’t sleep for 4 days, there’s no way to write it all up…

So, keep checking HEXUS.gaming regularly over the next few days as we’ve not nearly finished with our E3 content just yet… I’ve got at least 20 stories, and very possibly many more, to write up, bringing you all the best bits from the show!

To be utterly honest, I can;t see the point in getting a 'star' to appear on your stand when they clearly have no idea what they're there for or what the game is... it's so obvious they're there for the money and, to my mind, that just undervalues the product the publisher is trying to push.

I knew all about Paris and her 'appearance' but deliberately missed it... I really don't know what these guys are thinking... Paris Hilton endrosing a game is going to make me write positively about their product? Oh yeah, sure, 'cos Paris knows all about it, eh?

What was by far more impressive was the screening of Scarface from Vivendi... now THAT'S a game worth writing about.. oh wait, I am...

I've got a simply enormous back-log of stuff to work through, and Warcraft is in there.

The problem was, we spent all day at the show and then headed staright off to at least two parties each night, leaving no time to actually write stuff up unless we skipped sleeping, which I did for the Nintendo Wii articles...

Rest assured, there's plenty of coverage coming.

apparently she was so clued up, she didn't even know the name of her own product, calling the game Diamondquest. see http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/e306/e3...ame-173426.php
