    Wii, Region free?

Is the Wii region free? I got one yesterday and was thinking about buying the Animal crossing game. It only came out in the Us and Japan.

As the Wii Animal Crossing is still in early development I guess you are meaning the Gamecube Animal Crossing? That was released in the UK - I bought it, even came with a free memory card!

(It was released a year or two after the US and Japan versions, and a lot of people did import the Australian version (as that was PAL) before Nintendo finally saw sense and released it in the UK!)

I didnt keep my Gamecube for long. I had read all about animal crossing before i got it and that was the game i wanted. And when i got my gamecube and found it was japan and usa only, i kept it for around 2 months and sold it. But i thought the only animal crossing that was out over here was the DS.

    sorry...dumb question...and possibly wrong tread:

Would selling modded Wii's be illegal? I mean just offering the modded hardware but not the software. If so, why?

Dunno about illegal but you will have voided the warranty from nintendo.

Modding the box probably isnt illegal played the copied games the mod allows you is.

Depends where you live, it is illegal in a lot of countries including the UK and US, Nintendo UK had a post on their website but the site is down for upgrade, I found this article about it:

Nintendo Issues Mod Chip Warning : Next Generation - Interactive Entertainment Today, Video Game and Industry News - Home of Edge Online

I have read of people being prosecuted for selling mod chips and modded consoles, these were for the PS2 and xbox but the same would apply for the Wii. Do a search in google and you will be able to find the storys.

Nah nothing yet as far as region free, but atm it's easier just to buy an american Wii and get the power adapter, the controllers work on all of them

yup, I'd get an American one and just import the software, most of the time even with postage it's still cheaper than the UK price.
