    Fifa08 Wii Style

I have been a fifa fan for years on the pc and playstation, however with the launch of fifa08 only a week away i was wondering if anyone knew anything about the controlling for the Wii?

I can't see it using the remote to its potential, will it work more like a game pad ?

Well its not a port of any of the other F08s, and looks very different - played vertically, but still has the decent animation that Fifa is known for. I've seen footage a while back on IGN and Gamespot. Try having a look there and there was one demo of the controls. IIRC there weren't that many gesture based controls - but then again, there doesnt have to be - there just has to be intuitive well implemented ones.

But try to check out those sites for videos

    This is the offical word:

The Wii-exclusive Ronaldinho will host a game mode designed and created exclusively for Wii called Footii Party with Ronaldinho. With this mode, EA introduces unique party games - including Table Football and Shoot Off – where you can play as your self-created Mii™ character to unlock Ronaldinho and take on the champ. Each Footii Party game is created as a multiplayer, social experience designed to engage and entertain fans of all ages.

Ronaldinho commented on the character, “My character looks like he enjoys playing football and shares my passion for the game. This is important to me. Whether you are playing football on the pitch or my party games in FIFA 08 on the Wii, it should be a fun and enjoyable experience.”

The game’s revolutionary FreeMotion controls help level the playing field for all players and turns FIFA 08 on Wii into a physical, social activity. It also provides gamers with a truly authentic football experience with more control than ever before. It's easy to pick-up and play and with the in-game Football Academy you can learn basic and advanced controls in more than 30 interactive tutorials. Each lesson teaches you how to master the FreeMotion controls and perform all the necessary movements to dominate on the pitch.

    I'm loving it.

Better game play than PES6 on the 360. IMO.

FYI all you wii footy fans - if this looks good (And it does by the way) go and check out IGN for some info for PES2008 for Wii - there is a video of the control system and it looks odd, but could be really quite innovative. IR can be used dor passing, selecting where players run (Yourself and others) etc.

Fifa looks accessable straioght away, but if the controls work, then PES could be awesome - btw this isnt meant to be a PES vs Fifa thing - I think that they both look good and I just want to carry on seeing good implementation of Wii controls!
