WTD: Gamecube controller (& mem card?)

Hi, have just got Rogue Leader, a Gamecube game, for my Wii, after reading loads of great reviews. Great, a fun game for £7 from ebay, delivered.
But now i realise that I need an actual gamecube controller as well as possibly a memory card (not sure if needed to play the game, or just to save progress).
Any good ideas where to go? I was going to pop into my local gamestop / second hand trade-in place in town, anyone seen any deals online please?

    Thanks in advance

System as shown, plus: Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro. Griffin Powermate that pulsates blue!
Diamondback Razor. Logitech media keyboard. Netgear MP115. AC-S1 R2 on the 3870. Netgear DG834N router.
Seperates surround system driven by an Audigy 2. External 160GB and 500GB hard drives. 1 happy me. 1 not so happy me's wife.

Presumably you only want official controllers/memory? Usual pricey but quality rule applies.

Yes, IIRC you will need a gamecube memory card too. If you are only playing one or two games standard 4mb (59 blocks) will be fine, but there are higher capacity cards out there (16mb, 251 blocks) for not much more. If you are prepared to buy unofficial stuff there are cards as high as 128mb, and Ive had two 64mb ones and not had a problem with them. However, most games only use a few blocks - Rogue Leader uses 3. Games like FIFA, Hitman 2 and Pokemon use 50 - 80ish IIRC and there may be a few others that use a lot too.

Links below, not that the Wanted section isnt the best place to get them. My first port of call would be any friends who have/did have a gamecube though.

Amazon.co.uk: GameCube 59 Slot Memory Card: PC & Video Games

Amazon.co.uk: GameCube 251 Slot Memory Card: PC & Video Games

Controllers - starting from the cheapest its the same as memory cards really - friends, internet, high street. Wavebirds are great if you like wireless, but will set you back about £20 rather than about £10. Link below, again not that Ive checked its the cheapest around or anything:

Amazon.co.uk: GameCube Wavebird Wireless Controller: PC & Video Games

Finally if you like Rogue Leader can I point you in the direction of Rebel Strike - it has more of the same, albeit mixed in with some rubbish ground based missions, good multiplayer, and you get the the Rogue Leader levels in co-op mode.

Definitely get the wavebird if you have the Wii hooked up to a big-ish telly, as all the wired versions that I have found will mean that you will have to sit pretty up close to theTV which obviously isnt great.

I picked up a wavebird, along with some GC games when there werent that many new Wii titles coming out a good few months ago. Never got round to getting Rogue, but you a good thing to try is to just go to IGN or gamestop or whatever your fave review site is and get a list of the highest rated GC games, thats what i did... (Zelda, RE etc) and then start to pick up a few for a really cheap price.

One thing - the only (and it almost doesnt count) bad thing is that there is no vibrate functionality on the wavebird but I havent really noticed it too much - just wanted to let you know. Defo get the wavebird though, its a great controller.

    Happy Gamecubing!!
