    wii remote strap- useless?

well after a gooooood few sessions of wii sports tennis it seems that the strap is pretty much useless. i find myself tightening it up after every point and even though i dont think i would ever actually let go of the controller, i have no faith in it actually doing anything if i did

    anyone else get this impression?

Have you got the newer clip one, or one of the versy first ones that just moves about?

I dont find mine too bad to be fair. I'm sure Nintendo send new ones out for free, might be worth asking?

Even if it becomes a bit loose it can still prevent injury/damage

as i say, i have no faith at all in it doing anything other than providing someting to pull on when its embedded in a wall... in Dublin... and the fact i can feel it loosening makes me quite concious of it being there

The new ones have a clip on the strap. You make the loop fit around your wrist, alter the plastic bit to fit around it, then there is a little leaver on it to move which locks it onto the strap.

I'll get a pic tomorrow if I get a second.

Hmm perhaps I should gets some of them...I'd always been under the impression that all they changed was the thickness too. Are nintendo still giving these things out if you just give them your serial number?

wait wth? i got sent new ones a few months after launch when all nintendo got was this constant abuse about damages, they changed it again? i will need to ask for yet more free things . At least nintendo send stuff for free, free silicon stuff for remotes and free straps, much happier then microsoft/sony atm.

    Re: wii remote strap- useless?

First time ive seen or heard about those new clippy ones too.
I havent had a problem with the wii straps but I do tend to be constantly re-adjusting the slider when playing wii sports or just going without on other games.
How do you get them? The old order page seems to still show the picture of the old replacement, is there a new order page for the clippy ones?

    Re: wii remote strap- useless?

Any Wii manufactured after Oct/Nov last year were held back by Nintendo so that the newer straps / jackets were included, hence the out of stocks around Christmas.

A very quick google search shows:

Rather, it's offering a voluntary exchange program whereby customers can contact their nearest Nintendo Service Center by calling 0870 606 0247 to receive instructions on how to get a new wrist strap free of charge.

    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!

My brother doesn't bother with his. Got home at Christmas to find him waving madly at the TV. Good job the parents don't have a fancy LCD job. The clip's very useful, I always worry about being cack-handed.

I have some of the original set of straps and they are a bit rubbish really. The tether is strong enough, but its soooo loose that in sports games, I'm constantly tightening it up. Might have to give that number a call then!

    Cheers
