| Member | Re: Mario Kart Wii - anyone else a bit let down? I know my drifting, especially since some of the online challenges require drifting like a madman to have a chance of beating them. I just wanted to make a point that old tracks now play completely differently. ![]() Gamecube controllers are standard for my wii now, Smash brothers, Mario Kart, NiGHTS... What worlds do your dreams create? |

| Re: Mario Kart Wii - anyone else a bit let down? I love it. Disappointed that I could never get on with manual drift and did better on automatic. But replay value really high. I think we've played it more than any other Wii game so far. |

| Re: Mario Kart Wii - anyone else a bit let down? I thought it was a lot better than Double Dash...it's still not as tight as the older games but I enjoyed it overall. The wheel is a lot of fun but I always revert to Gamecube controls if I want to actually win |

I don't play it online but it doesn't seem to play as smoothly as the N64 version and as Lee says it's really annoying when you just get hit over and over again. | Re: Mario Kart Wii - anyone else a bit let down? I really enjoy single player when I can stay on the tracks lol but I havent tried online play yet really tempted to go on now and have a look what its like. I wasnt that disappointed with single player and its even more fun with friends. |

Like Bazzlad, I've also played them all, however, I was so young when I played the first two games that I can't really remember the handling and many of the tracks. In recent times however, I've played the N64, GBA and now the Wii version. I'll have to say the N64 was the best for jme as it has the best catch-up logic for the AI characters, however, the Wii version is also very exciting. The problem with the Wii version is the fact that they've made a whole load more new power-ups which just annoying, there are way too many power-ups, the good power-ups are dished out WAY too often. I understand the need to allow novice and casual gamers the chance to be able to pick it up and play, however, when you hit 100cc let alone 150cc there should less catch-up and more skill involved, sadly, this is not the case, on ALL difficulty settings including 50cc, there is a degree of dedication you have to apply to this game to get good, which immediately throws the notion of pick-up-n-playability stiffly out of the window. |

| Re: Mario Kart Wii - anyone else a bit let down? While I haven't played mine for a while, I thought it was excellent - especially the online racing/time trial comparison. Only downside for me was the width of some of the tracks - makes them feel like motorways rather than race tracks. |

| Re: Mario Kart Wii - anyone else a bit let down? The SNES version of Mario Kart was fantastic and will always be my favourite. Though, I am sure if I go back to it, I will be sad. For me, the Wii version lost the magic somehow. I do prefer Double Dash to the Wii version and more than Mario Kart 64 as well. I felt it captured more of the Mario Kart spirit, for me anyway. So hopefully, the next Mario Kart game (on a non-hand held device) will follow a trend and be to my liking. If not, I am sure i'll buy it anyway. >_< |
