    Laptop wont charge

    Hi Guys,

I have had my Lenovo AMD x121e for a couple of months now and today, for some reason, its decided it wont charge and windows is telling me i should replace the battery.

Seems very odd it was fine one minute then completely broken the next, any suggestions before i contact CCL for a RMA?

Really cant be bothered to be without my laptop for a number of weeks.

    Re: Laptop wont charge

the battery came with the laptop, i suspect they will make me return the whole thing, besides it might be something to do with the power circuitry wich is preventing it from charging.

Guess i will just have to contact CCL on monday...blergh

    Re: Laptop wont charge

Did you have any Windows updates install recently?

Once saw a laptop stop charging properly because the installation of a WU got interrupted and it broke something relating to power management!

So I guess you could try sys restore just in case.

If that were the case, the laptop would charge while switched off, right?

    Re: Laptop wont charge

You really would think so, but Windows had done quite a number on the power management subsystem.

I guess you would need to shut-down, disconnect the power and remove the battery for a bit, then reassemble and try charging it without booting.

    Re: Laptop wont charge

Try the "unplug it all then charge it without booting" effort as above. Quickest way to see if Windows or something else is getting in the way!

    Re: Laptop wont charge

Well it got sent back last Friday and was received on Monday, tested the next day and they found that the battery was indeed duff.

Instead of sending me a replacement it has been sent back to Lenovo which means i wont see it for another couple of weeks... what a ball ache

    Re: Laptop wont charge

I received the laptop back on thursday which was the 17th, although if i had been in the country it would have been on the 14th as they dispatched it on the 10th making the total turn around for the RMA 17 days. I guess thats not the worst i have ever experienced although its far from the best.
