Dual screen, full screen app in other window

On a dual screen setup (Windows XP laptop and my LCD telly) I have my LCD telly setup as an extension of my desktop.

I launch an app, like mame32 or another emulator, on my LCD telly however when I launch a game from the menu it appears full screen on my laptop's screen.

Is there any way that I can force it to appear full screen in my LCD telly/second monitor ? (dual screen noob here).

    Ta

There is probably a setting in your laptop's graphics card utility app - go to Control Panel - Display - Settings - Advanced, select the tab specific to your graphics adapter and have a look around.

In the past I was getting this problem when playing video on the second monitor. There was a setting about playing video in full screen on the lappy screen.

XP won't let me set the LCD telly as the primary display, I select it then apply the change and the laptops display reverts back to being the primary immediately

Video, with Media Player, is fine in full screen on the LCD telly. I'll get back on the laptop in a mo but I'm fairly certain that I have to no specific app to go with the laptops GPU, just the generic Intel video driver, will investigate...

Probably something to do with the DirectX acceleration bug/flaw/limitation that anly accelerates the primary output on the graphics card.

This comes up a lot on the MediaPortal forums. MP can't run on the secondary display because if would be drawing everything in software, and therefor slowly. I'm sure it could be done, but there are more important things for the devs to work on than making MP run on the secondary screen.

Strange that it swaps your screens back when you switch priorities. Could be a limitation of the chipset or driver.

A driver update, and me paying more attention to the various options the driver presents, did the trick
