Fair point dangel - but I've got so much software that if I load up the default hardware profile I still get a load of services that seem to slow down boot up. So to disable manually on the fly would take some time. Maybe the difference isn't that much! - I just don't like the fact that every software programmer thinks that as soon as you switch on your PC their application must be running!

If you add more RAM, then vista will use it as a cache and speed up application loading. If you hibernate (or sleep) instead of shutdown that'll also help. Lots of ways and means of doing stuff thesedays

The Mojave experiment only used vista ultimate and not the other versions of vista. That makes quite a difference to the other 5 vista version.
I have used and supported vista home premium and vista business and literally if it doesnt have 3GB+ Ram, everything crawls. Hence, my opinion is if its not vista ultimate, you're better off with xp pro (back in the day, it was also recommended xp pro > xp home). Hence, why oem manufacturers have been supplying machines downgraded to xp pro with an optional vista installation disk. |
