| Re: Ubuntu 9.10 is up on the mirrors I downloaded the netbook remix yesterday, and thought I'd try installing it on my Dell mini-9 this morning - but as soon as I plugged it in and it found the wireless network, it informed me that an update was available and offered the option of upgrading - so I accepted. So far, it's taken 2 hours to download what it needs, and says that it still needs another 2 hours to complete the install - however, it's been painless so far... |

| Re: Ubuntu 9.10 is up on the mirrors 4 hours! Blimey... I dont know what to say. Did it say how much data was being downloaded over those first 2 hours? That seems a bit much to be honest. Sort the partitioning from there, reboot and then install - worked fine then. Was how i got my ub/windows 7 dual boot working nicely.
If it is only OS you going to use then still maybe try the pre gparted idea first before you do the full install. |

| Re: Ubuntu 9.10 is up on the mirrors TRIM support was added to the kernel in .28 iirc, ext4 supports it now. So in short, yes, if you use the defaults. Originally Posted by Agent

Edit: Tried the wubi install and... it doesn't work! turns out the version of wubi included with 9.10 doesn't work with 9.10 and needs fixing. Think I'm going to leave this alone until they sort it out. ___________________________________________________________ System 1: Case: Antec 900 Motherboard: Abit IP35-e CPU: Q6600@3.0GHz RAM:2Gb GFX: MSI GeForce 8800GTS 640Mb HDD: Samsung Spinpoint 500GB O/S: Windows 7 Home Premium System 2:Asus Eee 901: 12Gb Windows XP + 16Gb SDHC Card (for games Last edited by Zadock; 02-11-2009 at 11:29 AM.. |

| Re: Ubuntu 9.10 is up on the mirrors NBR running sweet on my Aspire One (AOA110), that'd be the one with the crappy SSD, updated the BIOS, installed, rebooted, disabled journaling, disabled atimes. Now you wouldn't think it were an Aspire One SSD netbook at all. As far as I can tell, everything works, sound, webcam, mic. I haven't touched the wifi killswitch though, don't particularly want or need to either. If it doesn't reenable after hitting it again I'd have to find the crappy Linpus disc. Laptop/ubuntu-desktop, still the bizzare problem with HDA audio not working unless I explicitly add "model=auto" to snd-hda-intel's modprobe options, which is extra odd, because that's the driver default. But other than that, everything works 100%, flash video playback included. I'll test the Kubuntu and Kubuntu NBR images later. Oh, and the official docs are up on the http://help.ubuntu.com site today. So that concludes the 9.10 release. Originally Posted by Agent

| Re: Ubuntu 9.10 is up on the mirrors Oh yeah, I should probably give an idea of boot time for my netbook, about 17 seconds from grub to gdm login prompt, 10 seconds shutdown. That's good going. I could probably boot faster with gentoo/einit, but that's still pretty respectable. Originally Posted by Agent
