    Nice welcome guys, maybe there is a fair reason why he'd want to change it, we dont even know what its being changed too or why yet everyone seems rather quick to jump on the burn him bandwagon...

    So that is not trying to "change the name" that is trying to enable to two remaining cores. Why don't you tell us what your motherboard is. It is possible it doesn't support Quad Cores.

    oh i got p5k (which supposed to suport quad core) i read on other forums tht u get such problems but i done so many things and i couldnt fix it so my last option was to try and change the name manually

    Change "ProcessorNameString" to whatever name (right click, "modify")

    Change your BIOS, if your board manuf says it supports quad core then your probably on an older BIOS that does have the correct CPUID tables or whatever it is, this could lead not only to it being wrong as far the the name is concerned but also the multiplier/FSB/voltages could also be wrong..

    A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
