| COmmand and conquer Generals zero hour problems. Hi all. i recently upgraded my system to 3.0 (800fsb) P4 ,1gb pc4000 pro twinx corsair, abit ic7 max 3 mobo , asus 9800 XT etc etc etc. on my old system i had problems playing zero hour even though it was well within specs for the game. the prob is that in middle of a skirmish the game laggs wayy bad and is pretty much non playable. but the start is really fast with no problems. i thoguht that once i upgraded the problem would be gone............but i was wrong i spend £900 on an upgrade and get the same results. has anyone got any ideas y it is like this? all drivers are updated and so is game patches. thanx for ur help guys as this is really pi**ing me off!! | HEXUS webmaster | You got system restore on? Try temporarily disabling it, just to see if that's the problem. Page file could be an issue possibly too - try setting up a fixed size page file. I'm taking stabs in the dark here to be honest, but they're both worth a try. |

| formatted recently? most people think viruses happen to other people - whereas an unprotected machine connected directly to the internet will usually get a virus within 20 minutes, just from being connected to the internet |

| Go into the graphics options and check the disable dynamic LOD. This fix worked for my Radeon 9800 Pro based system Game plays much better now - should work for all Radeon based gfx cards. |

| is it possible that the game has problems with antivirus problems. I remember a while ago Black and white used to use some pretty agressive code when rendering some big fight sequences between some pets and the Virus scanner used to treat this as dangerous code in RAM and try to scan each pass on the RAM and slow everything down. Dissconnect from the net - run a full virus scan to make sure your clean. Disable your virus scanners (nortons was bad for this) and give it a go. It is Inevitable..... |

| www.delta-retail.co.uk | sounds like a memory leak to me, or it could be an antivirus problem as others have said. Especially if your using a resource heavy one like norton. What virus scanner you got? if you have a crap one such as McAfee or AVG then you may have a virus and not no it, both of those failed to pick up a virus ever on my machine whilst a pre install scan with panada or norton both picked up a virus [ a test one on a floppy] Works A.OK on my pc tho wiht or without patching, using panada antivrus. specs in sig Mac Pro, 2x Quad core 2.8ghz Xeon, 512mb 8800GT, 4gb DDR2 FB-Dimm Macbook, 1.8ghz Core Duo, 2GB Ram, Superdrive iPhone 2G 2.0.1 "Is it a coincidence that an anagram of gordon brown is "born do wrong" ?, I rest my case. | Re: COmmand and conquer Generals zero hour problems. I'm having the same problem right now. this is only happening with zero hour and with skirmishes. i've tried playing with all the visual settings the lowest they can go, as well as the highest and no change. this is the only place on the web i can find anything on this topic. my computer is not the problem, i have other more visually complicated games and they run fine. also, i've tried running the game in windowed mode and the lag is just as bad. it's just the skirmishes that lag in this game. i love the game and don't want to lose it to this stupid lag issue. i'm using the 1.4 patch for generals on vista. please if anyone has any info on how to fix the lag issue let me know. |
