Windows MCE 2005 - How to get a Nova-T PCI freeview card to work.

Heres a little hint for people that want to get "freeview" digital TV support when using windows media centre 2005 using the hauppauge nova-T PCI card.

Firstly, do not install the hauppauge software that comes with the card - i.e the win2000 software as the microsoft TV software is much easier to use when using this card.

What you need to do is install the lastest drivers from the hauppauge website that are for MCE 2005 and this then installs the card as a 88xx series card.

Once this is installed, reboot the system and then run the scan in MCE to add the channels to the system

The EPG also works fine - and when I get home from work later I will ammend this to add a link to the latest WHQL certified drivers that work with MCE2005 perfectly and fixes a few issues.

Do you think they will bring out a 64bit MCE?

I very much doubt it really but who knows - don't forget that longhorns on the horizon so rather than tweak the code to release a 64-bit MCE they might just wait for longhorn.
