    Media Player vs processor

Does anyone know whay media player for some reason, after about 1 minute of use, starts using all of my available processor resourses! It literally works fine for the first minute or two but then goes wrong. I've just reinstalled my computer after fitting a new hard drive and graphics card. Media player 8.x thats already on XP did it, and so does version 9.0 so i'm sure it's not the actual player but some background codec or something. Even the media player2 does it. Music play back is not affected but every other program running is. Most things microsoft have a dabble at never seem to work properly, but media player does have it uses; well, until it stops working properly.

use a decent player then, like media player classic which looks & tastes like windows media player 6.4 but will play anything & doesn't leave a high-cpu-useage aftertaste

Another vote for MPC - superb piece of software. Why cant Microsoft just make stuff like this, instead of some piece of poo that takes 5 minutes to start up?
