| Cloning drive? I'd like to transfer the contents of my system (C: ) drive on my server to another hard disc that's quieter, but around the same capacity. Can this be done as simply as copy and paste in Windows (Server 2003) or is there special software that does this? The drives aren't the same make and model, so the capacity will be a bit different, but they're both around 4GB. Thanks in advance. | Norton Ghost is what you require. T'is a good program, I think you can get a free DOS version from somewhere, that does the job nicely ![]() Any problems, just ask ![]() AMD Athlon XP 2400+ | Connect3D Radeon 9600PRO | Seagate Barrcuda 80GB HDD | 512mb PC2700 Crucial RAM | MSI KT6 Delta FIS2R | Zorro Silver Case | Windows XP/Gentoo Linux |

| yes, Ghost/driveimage generally run from a bootable floppy and would copy the entire drive across to the slave. It wouldn't matter if the drives are different sizes/makes/speeds, as long as you weren't trying to put 10gig of data onto a 2 gig drive! |

| driveimage boots from cd, into an XP environment - which is good from an NTFS perspective. i don't know if you can do a drive clone from the booted environment, but you can just click a couple of icons if you install it in windows. |

| Ghost works fine with 2003 server and the new engine does not work with dos and needs two boot disks in the corporate version, not so sure about the home version but I suspect that is the same. The Cow by Ogden Nash The cow is of the bovine ilk; One end is moo, the other, milk. |
