    i tried the generals one, even tried copying contents of the options.ini file you pasted above and put it into that location, no dice. still gets stuck at the splash screen and would go no further.

    Here is original Options.ini entries for Generals:

    AntiAliasing =
    DrawScrollAnchor =
    GameSpyIPAddress = 0.0.0.0
    Gamma = 50
    IPAddress = 0.0.0.0
    IdealStaticGameLOD = High
    LanguageFilter = false
    MoveScrollAnchor =
    MusicVolume = 55
    Resolution = 800 600
    SFX3DVolume = 79
    SFXVolume = 71
    ScrollFactor = 50
    SendDelay = no
    StaticGameLOD = Low
    UseAlternateMouse = no
    VoiceVolume = 70

    Copy all to new text file in notepad save as Options.txt and change .txt to .ini.
    This is default setup.ini for C&C Generals, so you can adjust your own settings later in options menu.
    Or edit it directly in ini file...

    P.S.: If you own ATI card set AntiAliasing = 6 (maximum)
    If you own NVIDIA card set AntiAliasing = 4 (maximum)

    Re: Vista and Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour

    I got it working by enabling Generals.exe to Win2000 compatibility mode.

    I also downloaded the various patches for Generals and ZH and updated them manually.

    In the options mode I used DJDARE's options.ini settings. Thanks DJDARE!!!

    Hello, i found this forum on internet, because i have the same problem. But i have it in xp. Should i do something different, or will the same solution (options.ini) help? And where do i have to save the new-made text document in order to get the game running?

    i hope someone can help me!
    (excuse me if the English is poor, it's not my native language )

    edit: i found it myself.
    no more need to help me.

    Angry Re: Vista and Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour

    I can launch the game fine with the options.ini info, but the most frustrating problem still remains. When I choose to download updates it hangs on finding file for a long time then says "no such file" every damn time, manually patching it does nothing it still tries to update the damn game!

    ***UPDATE***

    Selecting "Run this program as an administrator" in both the check boxes within the compatibility tab (right click, properties on zero hour exe) and "show setting for all users" option in the compatibility tab, as well as setting it to run in compatibility mode for windows XP service pack 2 in both tabs, then running the 1.04 zero hour patch fixed this problem!

    The solution stated above worked for me. I suggest you make sure that you change your settings so that file extensions are visible.

    It didn't work for me first time but found out that the file was actually called options.ini.txt with the .txt section being hidden.
