They do a few weeks of settling in sessions. Where they go to the room after breakfast and then transfer back to their old room after lunch.
We seem to have cracked it though. Went for a sticker chart approach, which i decorated with Bumblebees and made some Bumblebee stickers. We now have 2 smiley faces and only one sad face from the first day of the first week. I also spoke to one of the senior nursery nurses in her room who let the others know she was having problems settling. We are still getting the whole 'I don't want to go to nursery' thing. But we have no tears on drop off. :-)
Fank yoo Zack! You are very kind I'm just doing my job, and try to treat the children in my care the same as I'd want my boys to be treated, and remembering what it is like to have unsettled little ones and do things I would of liked someone to do with me! With my job it is just as much supporting the parents as well as their children, and always make it clear that my door is forever open with an listening ear to parents that need it, and it's surprising the amount that do.
Been in this game far too long, as the Children I started looking after when I first started in childcare are turning 18/19 now
Awww that's fab to hear! So glad your little girl is settling in her new room xxOriginally Posted by Angeleyes
