Probably not to do with the fact he has a child or children and has probably tried them.

    Jeez make it more obvious.

So do you mean it stinks as in in it smells or its rubbish?

I imagine that a lot of these baby milks, like cat foot are more of a sucess through marketing than actually being any good.

Re: My in depth review of baby milk

Excuse me for adding something constructive to this here thread as seems no one here bar the OP has had a child recently

When my daughter was on formula milk once upon a time, we tried SMA first, which smelt an awful like heavily abraded brass and caused her to have severe constipation owing to being incredibly rich so before the tin was even finished, we tried Cow & Gate which smelt a lot like stale ice-cream ( LOL ) and went down really well with her and seemed to alleviate her constipation very quickly but as for Aptamil, we didn't get round to trying it out as my daughter took to Cow & Gate so well and if it wasn't broken, we weren't about to fix it, as far as cost is concerned though, at the time when my daughter was on formula milk, all three brands were exactly the same price.

Its also worth noting that every single baby is different, I actually know a girl who has twins with near diametrically opposed eating requirements, so in light of this, different approaches should be observed and taken according to your child's own needs and requirements.

Maybe you should try looking at alternatives or more pertinently try talking with nutritionists at your local baby clinic as if your child is being really problematic with formula milk and breast milk, they might be able to give some actual useful advice rather than what you'll probably be getting on here.

Re: My in depth review of baby milk

    Stinks as in smells.

The babies preference I am not so sure about, she seemed to drink all three okay enough but we didnt use any of these when switching from breast to formula. We were in Japan then and of course they have different ones.

Interestingly though when we did switch initially she didn't like some brands. First we tried wakodo which she wouldn't drink at all and then we tried a meiji one and also a morinaga one which were quite similar. She liked the morinaga one the most which is supposed to smell and taste similar to breast milk.

The SMA one looks colour wise and smells very similar to the morinaga one. The Wakodo one looked and smelled like the Aptimil and Cow & Gate

So if you like SMA and are ever in Japan you know to go for the Morinaga.

Re: My in depth review of baby milk

Well my Daughter had Aptamil, she lost to much weight after being born so needed a boost this is what the Mid Wife suggested, and that recommendation is good enough for me. It is VERY hard to find on new years day, I would recommend any parents get some baby milk in even if they think they are going to breast feed. I always described the smell as "Fishy Milk".

Re: My in depth review of baby milk

I never liked SMA, it looks like runny watered down slop. Cow and Gate was ok, my Boys never really like the taste.

My boys were brought up on Farleys Oster milk - Gosh that shows their age ( And mine lol! ) It's not called Oster milk anymore lol! It always had a nice consistency and satisfied them

17 and 16 now lol and both over 6ft tall So, that is one brand I would certainly recommend

Re: My in depth review of baby milk

    @ BEANFro

We have a 16 month old as well as a 5 y/o + 7 y/o. All boys raised on breast milk, and both myself and my wife think there really is no substitute. I know sometimes breast feeding isn't an option for everyone, but it really is the best for baby as well as mum.

My wife has done alot of work for the Breastfeeding Network here in Scotland, so she has seen first hand the benefits.

Re: My in depth review of baby milk

I also agree. My wife did it for 6 months but had to stop because of having to take medication. She (the wife) was devastated that she could no longer do it.

It seems to have been long enough though as the baby hasnt been ill even in the slightest since she was born just over a year ago.
