    Summer Holiday suggestion

I have three girls aged 8, 5 and 5 and have been thinking about a summer holiday. The kids have never been abroad but the wife is a little reluctant. She claims the heat (and sun screen) will just make it a nuisance, but I suspect she's just avoiding the hassle.

Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations for good places to go this summer, for kids aged 5 - 8 ?

How about the Lake District? We've been there (based around Keswick) for the last few years with my son (7) and he loves it. We go out walking every day, and he's always miles in front of us, doing his own thing. If the weather's nice, you go for a nice walk and if it isn't, there are plenty of other things to do.

Daft as it may sound, Centre Parc's are just right for that age group.

Eurocamp - You can go abroad but there are English representatives at each location that can help you with any worries. I would suggest somewhere in France - especially the atlantic side.

Oooh yes, good old Eurocamp, we had three great camping hols with them in the Loire Valley when our kids were 8 and 11.

    Re: Summer Holiday suggestion

Eurocamp usually have kids clubs and other activities - if you go to the Loire Valley it's not likely to be too hot for your wife, but also a nice temperature for the kids! Plenty to do in the area too... Wine hunting (for dad and mum - flip a coin for designated driver!) and plenty of castles and zoos and other things.

(it's why my parents moved out there last year!)

    Re: Summer Holiday suggestion

Holidaying abroad does not have to be any more hassle than staying within the UK.

All children should wear sun protection here or abroad and a decent factor to boot.

Your choice of holiday should be based on what things can spark an interest in your children and that is usually what sparks an interest in the parents too, as our enthusiasm tends to rub of on children.

Places that offer exploring nature in safety or wonderful places to get oneself lost in as it were.

Ireland offers many places to feed a young persons need to discover.

Glamping in the Openairlodge at Domaine les Gandins, France.

First look at what your children like. then look for holidays that suit them.

Send the kids off to PGL, go somewhere romantic with the missus...

Do they still have PGL camps?
