I bought a 8800GTS a few weeks ago and ever since then things have gone down hill for me. My computer suffers from random unrecoverable freezes, which require the power being pulled. Once the PC has done this, it will take 3-5 attempts before it will boot correctly. The first few attempts the PC's fans will start to spin, and the graphics card fan will get stuck on full RPM( it should spin up, then spin down as the PC goes through the boot sequence). My screen stays black, then the power light flashes then goes orange (no signal and going into power save mode).
Iv tried 2 reformats, system restore, a new HDD and the drivers off the BFG CD & the nivida web site and nothing has worked. It will work for a week then start to going down hill rapidly. (frequency of the freezes/non booting goes up). Even in safe mode it will randomly freeze.
4/5 of the time it freezes, the other time it will BSOD and come up with an error, something alogn the lines of sqrl not equal to or less than? Didnt get a chance to write it down but it was along those lines.
Any ideas? cheers guys
(for the record, this has nothing to do with the corsair cable frying my other HDDs & CD drive, i had this problem before that aswell)
