    Re: 3DMark '13 score thread

Here are my initial results with an overheating CPU and no GPU drivers apart from the default installed; everything is at stock:

Will update it once I sort out the cooler and download the latest driver, too busy lately!

    Re: 3DMark '13 score thread

Well, here's my first run, on my Acer 3810TZ laptop http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/126900

Obviously there's no Fire Strike, and tbh I was a little worried that she might curl up and die during cloud gate (I don't think it acheived as high as 1fps at any point!), but it handled Ice Storm pretty well. I'll be testing HD4200 before too long, which was released around the same time as Intel's X4500, so that'll be an interesting comparison Then when the Android version is out I can do my phone ...

that is until i test my onboard ATI3300 it can play crysis, so i hold high hopes on beating your measly 106 for cloud strike scaryjimbo

HD3300 That might beat my HD4200 with sideport (until I overclock it of course )

Bagnaj: are you willing to maintain scores for the other tests? Or would you prefer someone else to stack them in a new thread?

    Re: 3DMark '13 score thread

Realised my first run was done with laptop on "balanced" power profile rather than "performance". Graphics was about the same, got a small boost in physics scores (due to the CPU running at 1.3GHz instead of 1.2GHz ). Difference was pretty insignificant though.

I'll happily maintain tables for Ice Storm and Cloud Gate for devices that need them, but I'm only going to put machines into their highest capable table. Putting all the Fire Strike machines into the Cloud Gate and Ice Storm tables as well would be too much work!

Yeah, I never anticipated you putting all the scores on every table Thanks mate.

Just as a thought, it might be worth putting the lowest scoring set up from each test in the table for the previous test: so e.g. Phage's Cloud Gate test result would go in the Cloud Gate chart as a performance reference for the DX10 cards to the DX 11 ones? Or would that cause too much confusion?

If we get some more DX10 results I may do that, but anything DX11 capable is going to destroy your GMA X4500! I'll attempt to get a 9800gt score over the weekend (unless anyone has a later DX10 GPU), and then I'll add the closest Cloud Gate DX11 GPU score (rather than the lowest). That way you can compare DX10 GPUs to each other, and see which GPUs will be equal or better once you make the jump to DX11.

In addition to my earlier APU request, I'd also like to see how the Intel IGPs stack up. Loads of Intel CPUs on the list already, someone must be willing to test out the IGP!

    Re: 3DMark '13 score thread

I've got the tests loaded on my work laptop (i7-2640M) so we'll have a high end Intel IGP in there soon

I'll also be doing more DX10 results at home, with HD4200 IGP, a HD3470 discrete card, then the pair in Hybrid crossfire. I'll probably test several different clock speeds as well (since my HD4200 should do the ~ 800MHz the 3470 runs at ).

I'll try to grab some time to run the A6-3670k over the weekend, and once I get my son's desktop back from the friends who borrowed it (I've just dropped their new gaming rig off so that could easily be this weekend ) I'll have a high end DX9 (7900GTO) result to go in the Ice Storm table (although I suspect we'll have to wait for the Android/iOS version to come out before we get many Ice Storm results).

My request, if anyone still has an old rig around, is a test of Q6600 + 8800GTX. That'll let me compare my old rig to my new one...

.... Why do these results show incorrect CPU speeds?

    Re: 3DMark '13 score thread

1600MHz is the default idle speed for modern Intel CPUs. It's probably picking up the system info with the CPU at idle. I guess with turbo technolgies it's hard for programs to guarantee that they're pushing a CPU to its default clock rather than a turbo state? Either that or you've got Windows power scheme set to one that keeps your CPU in idle state all the time...?
