Are mechanical keyboard worth it?

It's more if I bought a brown switch keyboard and I like it I don't know how the others feel and maybe I like those more. I want to be able to test them all so I know in my mind that's the switch for me.

You can use DSR to do that as well. Order a range and return the ones you don't like.

as someone who owns cherry reds, i find them slightly too light for working on but they're perfect for gaming though.
if i were to buy again, i'd probably get cherry blacks or browns instead, but that being said, i couldn't own another membrane keyboard. i sometimes have the itch to bring in my keyboard to work lol
