NAS - not freeing up space after file deleted?

I have a Buffalo NAS LS421, with a 2tb hard drive in it. Recently I have reached the space limit so deleted several gb worth of stuff.

The issue I have is that this space isnt showing up, it still shows me as only having 200mb left.

Has anyone come across this before?

Is the deleted files going into your "trash" on your desktop?

Have you tried emptying your trash?

Check there isn't a trash / recycle bin on your NAS through the web interface. It won't be desktop related.

Sometimes it takes time to actually move/delete files from NAS. Sometimes the actual action is delayed if the user initiating the action is still shows up as logged in a session within the NAS.

Try log off/clear all users plus soft restart.

Afterwards what Agent suggested about the recycle bin within the NAS interface (although usually that has to be enabled by my experience, default is mostly disabled).

Check the drive for a folder called trashbox (or similar) and delete its contents.
