Yeah, I did eventually read pretty much all of it.
I think the point the reviewer was making was that this is the experience the customer may well end up having.

He seemed surprisingly upbeat in tone though, given how rubbish his benchmarks went. I take it his meetings were more interesting than his benchmarks.

That Dell Inspiron 3656 (http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-3656-desktop/pd) looks rather interesting. So someone out there is putting these processors onto a uATX motherboard. Although once again, even if I could buy it in this country I look at the machine and think "what the heck kind of PSU is that" and generally wonder about the build of the machine so yet another AMD box I wouldn't actually buy or recommend.

Yeah, that too. Its why Nvidia must have been in chuckles mode with that statement they made.

Yeah, but the problem is that Anandtech is a HUGE tech site which many people will read. If you put in AMD Carrizo into Google its one of the top hits.

This is the problem most people will see:
1.)AMD Carrizo is not a bad product
2.)However,most OEMS won't spend money on the laptops meaning they won't perform well
3.)AMD sells their APUs on the strength of graphics, but since ALL the Carrizo laptops tested appear to not run in dual channel, the graphics are worse than the previous generation and maybe Intel
4.)Kaveri is faster than Carrizo for gaming
5.)Even adding another SODIMM to a Carrizo laptop won't help

So after reading that people will get the impression to AVOID Carrizo laptops. They might as well get Kaveri or just forget AMD and get Intel instead.

Yet,as I have shown before Carrizo laptops even in lower TDP mode can run RAM in dual channel, and AMD PR knows that. However,by giving Anandtech laptops which were obviously pre-production and not representative of final production laptops, they just made Carrizo look pointless to buy in a laptop.

Sorry,I know AMD is in financial issues but can't they afford some new laptops for a major review?? Seriously??

If AMD have a lab at their headquarters, then I would expect people there to know the products at that lab including which ones are single and dual channel ram. I would expect AMD to send someone out to buy DIMMs to plug into what they had.

I expect the reality is that *only* gamers using integrated are going to care about single vs dual channel ram as most of the time the machine just won't be bandwidth limited. That would be an article on its own though when that article was already too long for casual reading.

But the problem is that due to the weak AMD memory controllers in single channel I expect Intel to do better.

Also AMD seems so disjointed marketing wise + in the earlier review at NBC they supplied a SODIMM so dual channel testing could be done and then when Anandtech goes to AMD they use buggy laptops which have issues running RAM in dual channel unlike actual production ones.
