Quick Question: PSU's with 1x120mm fan question

Lo all, in the market for a psu and decided to get a 530w tagan easycon, was opting for the other tagan version, but put off bt the wires, anyhow the question is:

Does the fan suck air from the case and the air goes out of the psu or.

the fan sucks air from outside to inside of the case.

The fain sucks air into the PSU and it is pushed out the back of the case.

I read somewhere, that 1x 120mm fan is not the best PSU setup for AMD systems....cant remember why!!

Either way, my new system is gonna have a Tagan 530W PSU, maybe EasyCon, havent decided. And they have a 120mm fan as you know...

I say, anything you EVER read is WRONG...either that, or I just ignore everything I read...might be why im living in a hole...

It all depends on the airflow in the case too. If you've got a good setup that 1 fan will be advantageous since it will be quieter. If you're not sure about which PSU do check out Tom's Hardware Guide on the article where they ran PSUs through stress test. The Seasonic 600W (S-12, I think) is damn cheap and was one of the recommended PSUs post test. Amazing stuff really, the only thing lacking is that it isn't a modular psu...

Almost all PSU's are designed to suck air out of the case. The 120mm ones are pretty good as they suck air right from the PSU out the top/back of the case.

I have a 120mm fan on my PSU (Nexus) and it does a great job. Highly recommend one with a big fan. It is really quiet too!

I purchased the 530w tagan easycon from scan last week, upgraded from an enermax. The quality of the build and the supplied cables is superb, especially the metal sheilded vga and HD cables, and the modular design is superiour to any other PSU i've ever owned, I can't recomend it enough. The single 120mm fan is the same if not slightly more effective than the 2 that were in my enermax, and it's practically silient.

cheers thats what i needed. I have a enermax 431w which has an 80mm and 92mm, its very noisey when it goes full blast.

Just a question.

How can you place a intake fan on the bottom of a case? Like shown on this illustration.

My Stacker has a convenient hole in the bottom of the case?

You would most likely have to cut one.

Failing that a fan on the side of the case will do almost the same thing: cut a nice lcowhole

1 fan at the front bottom, 1 fan at the rear should be enough to keep the case cool. I only have 1 fan in my case and that is the 120mm one on the PSU!! The Heatsink has a fan too, obviously, but even that is under volted to keep it quiet. Max temps are approx 40 CPU. The room is warm but not overly so.

A lot depends on the ambient temp. I used to have 4 fans in my case!!! I soon realised that having all of them was a waste of time!! Not much difference with or without them. But that is 'my setup'. Everybody will have different experiences.
