    SCSI help needed

I just got a IBM Ultrastar 18Gig 68 pin Ive plugged it into my Adaptec 2940UW card along with my seagate cheetah (Which works fine)

the problem is the IBM is detected on boot up but when I get into windows its not showing up

Ive tried going to the Disk management section and seeing if it was a partition issue and theres no sign of the drive there either.

    Can you help me?
    Cheers

nope, but when the pc boots the scsi card detects it

    more info:

    it sits on a 50 pin cable with a 50pin - 68pin convertor
its on the tail of the cable with a 50pin drive before it

Sounds like a termination problem - Check in SCSI Bios that it is accessible.

you need to format it with XP .....

the problem is that the boot sector is put onto the HDD by the SCSI controller and XP setup...I had same thing...

I eventually had to reinstall XP on my primary disk, reboot before it installed XP proper....then do same thing on secondary disk....so that both had the corect boot sector info for XP to see it.

I have had less stressfull days... than that one...and sadly it was more by accident than anything....

    BUT....one last thing.....

check that none of the pins is bent in the cable or drive....I had one bent....it showed in SCSI bios but would not do anything....

and it was a bent pin

PLEASE CHECK IT>...its worth 10seconds of your time
