    You could buy a 1700+ and those seem to overclock to around 2250 to 2550mhz, which would heavily outclass the XP2500+. All depends on luck and cooling though...

    If you are going to get a new mobo you should buy an Athlon 64 and overclock that, would be much faster, though a bit more expensive.

    That PSU should be fine unless you have like 5 HD's.

    nah i have 2 at the minute 1 20gig and a 9gig will take them two out and replace with a 120gig or an 80 gig

    Buying PSU's is a bit like compairing todays car market. Its like saying will my Alfa GTV 'handle' the la mons better than a Nissan 350Z.

    There is no real data on wither the new model Nissan will actually be reliable... you are just going on brand history. Also, the simple fact is that the chances are they would both be perfectly fine. Its a case of many of the peeps on these forums simply dont like skimping on PSU brand even though the percentage game says its not likely to make any difference.

    Its not the watts that count... the 450 is irrelavent. The system you describe could probably be run fine on a shuttle 200W psu.
