    memory for asus p5nsli

    Hi,
    I was just wondering which would be the best memory to get for an Asus P5NSLI, I want to overclock my cpu slightly. Looking for 2gb
    Using c2d 6600 and windows xp(32 bit)

    Those MOBOs typically do not OC much due to the chipset. Due to pricing I would suggest the best PC6400 kit you can find in your budget and it will be more than fast enough for what that board can run.

    Thanks for the quick reply. I was just wondering why would I go for PC6400 kit over PC5300 as that is what it supports max it says on spec?

    Well, the MOBO "might" OC the memory some should you ever choose to try. And, the memory will be much more future proof with faster CPUs and MOBOs if you decide to upgrade. Also, based on USA pricing, the 6400 kits cost very little more than the 5300/5400 kits. So, IMO, the small difference is money well spent.

    However, it is certainly not a requirement. If you prefer to save the money the 5300 kit will be just fine.
