Overclocked Corsair
Hi to all, I'm hoping for some advice on RAM settings for overclocked XMS2 PC6400 CL5 (I think, the actual number on the packaging is TWIN2X2048-6400G XMS2). Anyway the reason I got these is that on the sellers website they were down at operating at 1.8-2.1. This is perfect for my M/B as I can't change the voltage (even in F1). I was using some OCZ stuff that wouldn't let me clock past 215 on the bus, so I had to back the RAM off to 667 and overclock that way. Now imagine my suprise and glee when after changing over to Corsair the Ram is now nimbly running at 912MHz and loving it. I've memtested and all is good, the sticks are taking 1.87v (which is all my board will give) ( sorry did I mention it was a Gigabyte). I've left the Ram timings alone for the moment as it seems to be happiest with them at that setting: 5,5,5,18 with a command rate of 2. Now when I underclcked the OCZ stuff I'd got the timings just right but I'm not sure where to go with these. Thanks in advance for any advise.
BTW loving these new sticks ![]() |

Re: Overclocked Corsair
I have the cas 4 version of this ram with promos ICs.
Running at 5-5-5-15 @ 480 @ 2.1V. I suppose yours should be able to do something similar if you could increase the voltage. If I remember well, it was going up to 450 @ 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1V. Hope that helps. |

Re: Overclocked Corsair
Keep 2 things in mind. 2.1v is the max under warranty. And, the Promos ICs have onboard voltage regulation so most any voltage above 2.1v will only be converted to heat.

Re: Overclocked Corsair
Thanks for the reply. As I mention above, my mobo will only give out 1.87Vdimm. There's no way that this can be changed as my mobo has a limited bios. Currently (no pun intended) the sticks are running at 460MHz or DDR920 with the bus at 230. I've changed the timings to 5,5,5,12 but this doesn't make much difference from 5,5,5,18. Anyhow come Dec/Jan I'm upgrading the mobo, to what I'm not sure yet it depends on if I go for a new 'Phenom' or I go with a Q6600.
