how important is tRAS

Hi,

I seem to have got sent ram that doesn't have a product code in the corsair website:

TWIN2X2096-6400C5 G

It looks like this product TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G got seperated into two parts.

I had ordered TWIN2X2048-6400C5 without the above "G" at the end.

Anyway the ram was supposed to have timings of 5-5-5-12 and the actual timing is 5-5-5-18.

Will this different tRAS timing have much impact on performance as if the numbers are linear this seems quite significant.

No, this timing is actually far less influential than the first timing, the CAS Latency. Also, you can set the 18 to 12 in the bios manually if you like.

OK thanks I was just reading that there could be problems if the tRAS was set to low.

I didn't want to damage it.
