    Corsair CM2X1024-6400C4 & Nforce6M-A

    Hello all,

Bought a new NForce6m-A with an AMD Black Box X-2 processor. This memory is supposed to be perfect for the processor running in dual mode. I am unable to get dual mode on this motherboard. I have sent multiple e-mails to ECS and not getting anywhere. If you place the memory sticks in 1/2 slot (per ECS) the computer just beeps constantly and will not boot. Same with 3/4, 2/4 and 1/4. Its happy as a clam in 1/3 slot but shows single channel. Any help appreciated.

I'd suggest you see if they have a bios update posted at their site. If the MOBO will not run the RAM properly, you may want to RMA the MOBO.

ECS NForce6m-a Ver. 2.0 Dual channel memory problem.

Same problem.... ECS suggested a BIOS flash did it and nothing. Returned the board to Fry's (it was new, 9 days old) for a replacement. The replacement is doing the same thing....

The board will post and run only in single channel mode: Dimms 1, 3 or 1 &3. Have used Patriot Extreme 2GB sticks (high latency and low)> someone suggested low would work. Also used OCZ reaper and Corsair... beeps
(Will work in single channel mode: Dimms 1 & 3 only).

Switched out the power supply Antec TPII-550 watt, sli, pci-e to a Dynex 500watt.... no change
Switched out the video card Eva 7300 GT to a PCI matrox mill (really old one)> no change
Unplugged everything except the floppy & video card....

Someone somewhere suggested try using an older Antec 380 watt power supply...
    CPU swap first....
    I have ordered a 800watt BFG...
This motherboard is getting to be expensive pain in the ask me ....

I will now switch out the 5600 + CPU for a 3800 which is running fine on an ECS 6100SM-M motherboard in dual channel mode with all the before mentioned memory.

I don't know why I wanted the additional memory slots....

    Please post a solution/explaination.

    Tia

If all of your hardware is functioning properly then you may simply need to use a different MOBO.

CPU ? I'm not getting the "Errata" thingy. What is that about ? Is there a list of CPU's that will support dual channel with this board or is it trial and error ??

    Thanks

AMD Errarta 298. How does this relate to a Dual Channel Memory problem ?

    LOL....

    Lots Of Luck Wiztom

There is lots to be said about trial & error....

FYI: The new AM2 5000+ works fine with dual memory in all four slots on two different
    ECS NFORCE6M-A motherboards.....
I pickup up another set at Fry's, they have a hell of a combo deal, the board is essentially free.

If I put the BAD CPU in either of them the memory problem returns....
It will only post and run in Single channel confirguration with channels 1, 3 or 1 & 3.
    Anthing else beeps...

    Peace

That was just an example of what errata is and not a specific solution to this thread since:

    Thanks

    Hi again Wiztom,

    Both.....

The faulty cpu was a Retail Box 5600+...... amd has already replaced it

( I should take the new one out ot the box and test it eh?)

The replacement/standby I just purchased was a Black Box 5000+ (no problems) running stock.

Also had another 5000+ Retail Box (no problems)....

I was surprised to find it was the cpu since it posted and ran happy as a clam....

    Peace,
