The memory is failing in memtest when it is configured at 1066. At 800 it works fine, the memory has been tested in another board and is working fine, however it only fails when added to the Gigabyte board, please could you let me know the correct motherboard settings to run this memory at 1066. I have the timings currently at 1066@ 5-5-5-15 @2.1v as suggested by Cosair, however it is still failing even at the correct settings, The usb legacy has been set to off in order to escape the memtest bug and the version of memtest is memtest+ v2.01 what i am after is the type of settings that govern the ie the trfc twr twtr trrd trdwr twrwr trdrd twrrd trtp settings in the gigabyte board, they have a different nameing convention but if anyone out there can help me get the memory to run stable at 1066 it would be greatly appreciated.
Just to add this is the third set of mem now and i have seen this particular pack tested at scan themselves and passing a memtest so i know that the mem is good unless i am really unlucky and the board is killing the mem or something similar, also the mem passes memtest at 800 @1.8v with no problem. I am suspecting vdroop or a setting on the board etc etc

    Anyone?

What power supply are you using? Also, have you increased the memory controller voltage any? You may need to for the system to run the memory at 1066.

The power supply is the Cosair 620w so i know I am safe with this .
I believe i have the mem running at 2.2v by increasing the ddr voltage to +.4 and rebooting then looking at the voltage report for the ddr in the health status though how accurate this is I am not sure as at +.3 it shows about 2.135v and at .4v it shows 2.235 the ram guy has suggested 2.2 on my revision of mem on previous posts but I was unsuccessful with it running stable at either setting.

For the memory controller would there be another setting there?

I have available in the bios

    System Voltage Control
    ddr2 Overvoltage control
    pci-e overvoltage control
    fsb overvoltage control
    (G)mch overvoltage control (northbridge)
    cpu voltage

Also would something like CM1 TM2 EIST cause any problems? I was only thinking that it may cause it load under a different strapping or something if on? or is it a shot in the dark >? lol

Any help is greatly appreciated, it is driving me nuts.

I can't see the power saving options causing this issue.

This item is your memory controller.

    (G)mch overvoltage control (northbridge)

Try raising this voltage just a little and see if your stability above 800 increases.

    Re: p35c-ds3r and twin2x2048-8500c5d

Ok i have tried the setting at +0.1 +0.2 and +0.3v and all have failed at the same place.
The health status showed me though the I needed to add +.5 and sometimes +.6v in order to get the memory to 2.24v stable.
I am at a loss now , the only other thing that i can see is that the trc is reported to be 27 @1066 in the board when is should be 22 according to cpuid however there isnt a way of being able to the change the trc in the bios anywhere.
I have spoken to Gigabyte in depth and they are basically blaming the memory. Could it be that the moby is killing the memory in some way ? Or am i just really unlucky and this is the 3 rd set gone faulty on me?

If you have had 3 consecutive sets of memory test OK by Memtest and also be tested by SCAN:
At 800 it works fine, the memory has been tested in another board and is working fine, however it only fails when added to the Gigabyte board, please could you let me know the correct motherboard settings to run this memory at 1066.
Then I don't see the memory being the issue. It seems that for whatever reason, your board cannot run memory at 1066. In general, the Gigabyte P35s run our 1066 just fine. Even though these are on the DS3-L and not the R, it's the same chipset.

You may want to try RMAing the MOBO.

Aye the r over the l just means mine supports raid if I remember correctly, would the revision of mem have anything to do with it, I think mine is something like 1.2
Also the first set did test faulty, the second set the heat sink had actually come away from the pcb (dominators) the third set i saw test fine on another machine.

Verdict was faulty moby, or board not capable of running the mem stable at 2.2v so board rma'd and X38 chipset bought instead. Mem is recognised at 2.2v from default and is now running perfectly at 1066, thank you for you help. Topic can now be closed.
    thanks
