ASUS PB5 E plus with XMS2 DDR2 PC2-6400 2x2GB
Thinking of getting some of this ram for my mobo (ASUS PB5 E Plus) Had a look around and it seems people were having trouble with this pair. Most of the posts I read were dated 2006. Anything changed?
Thanks |

We didn't even have this RAM you listed in 2006 so whatever you found was not related to this memory. It runs great with 965 chipsets.

Re: ASUS PB5 E plus with XMS2 DDR2 PC2-6400 2x2GB
The only problem I remember with the 965 MOBOs was that the initial startup voltage was too low on some of the early MOBOs. Also, some memory kits with specific ICs would not reliably boot at that same initial startup voltage of 1.8v. So, both MOBO makers and RAM makers did a bit of tweaking and the problem went away.

Yes, in fact I just helped a friend build with a P5Q Deluxe and I tested several different types of our memory in the board. It all worked great.

Check here for memory compatibility: http://www.corsairmemory.com/configurator/default.aspx
This link is posted in the STICKY threads also. On the ASUS VM line of MOBOs, make sure the bios will allow you to set the proper voltage for your memory choice. Not all of them will and require JEDEC spec memory. |
