    4gb Pc3-8500

    Hi Yellowbeard,
Do you know if there are any plans for a 4GB kit of PC3-8500?

From what I can see the only modules that use 1.5v are the PC3-8500 ones but I can only find 2x1GB.

Fitting 4x1 would be ok except I'm not sure about cooling, motherboard stress and denying the opportunity to upgrade to 8.

Would the PC3-10600 TW3X4G1333C9DHX function at 1066 Mhz, with 1.5v? Hmm...

I don't know for sure but I doubt we will make a 4gb kit of PC3-8500. It "should" boot n run at 1066 but, it will depend on the board and how it handles the SPD as 1066 is not programmed in that SPD. What MOBO and CPU do you have?

    It is for a DX38BT and Q6600.

All the Intel boards I've set up in the past happily munch away on the VS4GBKIT667D2 (which is a very useful kit by the way) but I'm not up with this DDR3 stuff

What Intel boards say and what Intel boards do are not always the same thing, very fussy about memory voltage

Look at all the happy people:

Still, being "extreme" it should be adjustable to 1.7v if it won't run the 4GB kit at PC3-8500 @ 1.5v, so 4GB 1333 Mhz seems the way to go.

Very true. Page 16 of the manual says the memory voltage is adjustable for higher performance memory but, the manual does not specify the adjustment range. So, it "should" work with 1.7v 1333

    Re: 4gb Pc3-8500

    Hi Yellowbeard,
Follow up: The 4GB 1333 kit (PC3-10600 TW3X4G1333C9DHX) booted up at 1066 (1:2 with the 1066 FSB CPU) and works just fine. The voltage can be adjusted with the DX mobos (booted at 1.5v) but for running at 1066 1.5v is stable so I left everything at defaults.

    Vista-64 is a happy bunny
