    P5B deluxe Sub Timings.

Ive seen a few threads dotted about on various forums regarding the correct subtimings for the P5B deluxe, but I was wondering what the official settings are as recommended by Corsair?

The ram is TWIN2X2048-6400PRO and has Elpida chips.

The instructions here dont work for me, but I can get stable, but at 3-10-5-13, which is nothing like what is suggested in other threads on house of help.

    Any ideas?

P.S. no rush for this, its more out of curiosity than anything

Your reply direct from RAM GUY:

Just set the tested settings that are posted and I would suggest setting the memory voltage at 2.1 Volts at Cass 5-5-5-15 and Write to Precharge Delay is at 15 should be all he needs to set. The Tested settings are based on a slightly different MB but the timings and Voltage are the same.
Motherboard make and model: Asus P5WD2 Premium/Deluxe
Each pair is tested and packaged together using the following settings:
    AI Over Clock Tuner: Manual
CPU External Frequency: Manually set to 200MHz
DDR2 SDRAM Clock: Manually set to 800MHz
    PCI Express Freq: Auto
    PCI Freq: 33.33
    Performance Mode: Standard
    DRAM Timing Selectable: Manual
    SDRAM CAS Latency: 5T
SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 5T
    SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 5T
SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 15T
    SDRAM Write Recovery Time: 5
Write to Precharge Delay: 15 (If it's Listed)
    Command Rate: 2T
    DDR2 SDRAM Voltage: 1.9
    Chipset Core Voltage: Auto
All other settings are motherboard defaults.
Maximum DDR2 recommended VDIMM: 2.1 Volts

    Thanks for the reply.

The sticks produce errors when I use 5-5-5-15, but not 5-5-5-12.

    It is the subtimings that I need, more specifically;
TRFC = 42 at the moment.
TRRD = 10 at the moment.
Rank Write to Read Delay = 10 at the moment.
Write to Precharge Delay = 15 at the moment (10 is default)

As you can see, everything is at the motherboard defaults, but produces errors in memtest with the settings that you mentioned.

The other thing is that the sticks are rated to run at 5-5-5-12, so are we saying that this isnt possible?

    thanks

Are you using 1.9v or 2.1v? The answer above was a cut n paste from RAM GUY but, he may have thought you had the TwinX (non PRO) kit rated for 5,5,5,15. The DIMMs you have should operate at 5,5,5,12 as you have noted. If they don't and it is the fault of the RAM, we will replace them for you.

I'm running at 2.1v but they are rated at 1.9v (thats what it says on the stickers on the ram anyway).

As I said, this isnt too important, I just thought that you might have some dead cert sub timings with the P5B being a popular board.

You may have better luck at the Corsair forum directly from RAM GUY. I have not run across many P5B threads myself.

    Yep, thanks for the help.

I'm almost certain that the problem isnt the ram as such, more the sub timings.

Ive just ran memtest 1.65 on test 5 overnight with the cpu at 3240 and the ram @ 900mhz and it did 12 hours with no errors (using my timings), and now its on 1080mhz and has been going over an hour.

If I get any conclusive findings, I'll post them here, maybe it can help others that are in the same boat.

    thanks

I used a program called Memset (with all bios settings on automatic). It showed me this:

    Hope it's of some use.
