    Any good jet fighter sims?

As title really, are there any good (new?) jet fighter games in existance. I've been playing Over-G and HAWX again lately but I'm still left wanting - surely there's at least one decent sim been released recently?

a bit to realistic for me. considering black shark can take the best part of 10 minutes to get the engine started

That sort of thing doesn't usually bother me, I generally favour very accurate sims over more arcade-style games, especially for flight/driving games.

Re: Any good jet fighter sims?

same opinion as me watercooled, and even more so now that bf3 is out... if i wanted an arcade style jet fighter games then bf3 would overrule all of them as id be able to kick ass everywhere .

Cant recommend any but that DCS looks solid, need to get a new joystick first before i attempt sims again .

Re: Any good jet fighter sims?

Though I just said 'DCS', do be aware DCS is the name of the series/integrated battlefield. As shown on the page I linked to there are three games at the moment that use it.

If you're looking for a realistic jet sim then I'd go for DSC: A-10C Warthog, which is obviously focused on the A-10. It's just a single jet game (like the great Falcon series games) which means you've got really high fidelity. Black Shark 2 is the Ka-50 helicoper sim (available stand alone or as an upgrade to the original Black Shark). Finally the upgrade to Lock On, Flaming Cliffs 2, adds it to the DCS series as well. Lock On is quite old, but if you want something slightly easier to get into, and want a range of aircraft it's not a bad one to get if you've not played it already.

That was the first sim from the guys who did the games I mentioned above - so you might as well get LOMAC if you want the SU-27.

I've got the manual for Falcon 4.0 somewhere, I keep it on hand in case I need something heavy to beat an intruder to death with...

Even though there are a few jets in IL2 and it's probably one of my all time favourite games it doesn't sound like what you're after at all. Lock On/LOMAC's a good place to start, it's cheap now too... I can't speak for DCS: A10c but it looks very interesting indeed, one I'll be checking out myself in the near future I think

Re: Any good jet fighter sims?

Assuming it's the same one, I think I might have a copy of IL2 somewhere - it was in a games bundle I got around 04/05 time but the PC I had at the time managed about 0.3fps (literally) with its lovely SiS chipset. I'll dig it out and have a go.

Now that is a fine game (as was its predecessor). Every now and then I get a burst of nostalgia and have to reinstall it.

I could do with some decent flight games as well.

I have a Saitek X52 that's basically going to waste on FSX
