Hi All,
As subject really. I'm in search of a new RTS. I've got SC2, WC3 etc. I've completed World in Conflict, and CoH. I understand CoH2 is a bit pants. Can anyone recommend a recent RTS I might have missed please?

Supreme Commander, and Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. Both of which offer challenging single player experiences (especially Forged Alliance), and when you're done with that download Forged Alliance Forver and join us in the 1000+ strong community driven lobby. There's a number of youtube casters who promote the game - Gyle, praisegugleourmaster, 17LuXun
Here's a recent game from 2 pro players which really gives a great example of the units as the economy scales up and bigger stuff gets built. One experimental unit is used but the game also has long range artillery, nukes and land and air experimental units (not seen in this game).

Edit: Look for Supreme Commander Gold on Steam which offers both original game and the Forged Alliance expansion.
Dawn of War and possibly Dawn of War 2 (but that was developed by THQ and has GFWL integration, so I'm unsure about what's happened to the online parts of the game.)
The campaigns of DoW and DoW:WA are quite simple but get slightly more tactical in DC and SS.
I support cptwhite's choice for Supcom. It is a brilliant RTS with tactical depth and not just about being the fastest clicker
If you don't mind some turn based gameplay mixed in with your RTS then the Total War series has some fantastic games in it. I first tried Empire: Total War and spent 300 hours in the single player campaign playing different countries. I periodically revisit Total War: Shogun 2 and am looking forward to playing with Darthmod. It is my favourite strategy game series now after favouring Command & Conquer for years.
You survived Empire!? I lasted about 15 hours before I had to mod it. Shogun 2 is great vanilla and mods only improve it. Shogun II is IMHO the best Total War since Medieval 2 (which I reinstalled this weekend ), and whilst Rome II was a disappointment on launch I find it 'not too bad' now.
For a 'true' RTS, +1 for supcom, for a general strategy with RT battles I'd pick Total War anytime.
If your going to try a Total War game then I would pick Shogun 2 or Medieval 2. Rome 2 was and is a bit of a failure in consideration to the rest of the series. Empire since it was patched has become really good and Napoleon was also very good. I guess it depends in what era of history you are into to...but if you don't mind then get Shogun 2 first
I've always loved the Men of War series or Faces of War and Soldiers heroes of the WW2.
But then there's none of that "building and resources" stuff.
"If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0" ||| "I'm not interrupting you, I'm putting our conversation in full-duplex mode" ||| "The problem with UDP joke: I don't get half of them"
"I’d tell you the one about the CIDR block, but you’re too classy" ||| "There’s no place like 127.0.0.1" ||| "I made an NTP joke once. The timing was perfect."
"In high society, TCP is more welcome than UDP. At least it knows a proper handshake."
I will probably go back to play it modded once I'm done with Shogun 2 but as I do with all my games it was played well after release, I started after the second major patch that they introduced improving the AI just before they released Napoleon. I loved the naval battles in Empire, I managed to successfully use Lord Nelsons crazy strategy and a few times managed to pick off larger fleets by destroying masts which I enjoyed.
I played Supreme Commander and its expansion but found the resource system to be ridiculous, I can't overlook the absurdity of being able to use more energy than you produce. The game mechanics were amazing and loved the ability to use a second monitor for the minimap and the ability to scroll out or in as much as you like depending on what you are doing. Was lots of fun to play.
CoH2 I was a bit dissapointed with but I am sure after a couple of expansions and some more sides to play with it will be back up there in most played list, anyway reason for posting was I noticed Asda selling CoH2 for £10 when I was there the other day, so may be worth a go at the price
Have you tried Dawn Of War II?
Jon
I second Shogun great fun second game I'd say is one of the best I've played Crusader Kings II I never get tired of it just leave it 2-3 months and back for another 1-2 weeks of solid gaming completely different to previous playthroughs, just give it time to get used to the system quite complex.
Supreme Commander + Forged Alliance and Dawn of War II + Chaos Rising get my votes.
Two of my fave RTS's of all time.
Homeworld is by far my favourite but I would wait until the new remastered editions come out to play those if you haven't played them yet

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but there's a new Close Combat game (Close Combat: Gateway to Caen) out soon (June 7th)
Absolutly loved those games :-)
